TV buying

A TV deal is only good if the whole setup works.

Compare the exact model, return terms, and installed cost before a sale countdown does the thinking for you.

An art television integrated into a light-filled gallery wall.

The short answerCompare the same model and size, check seller and return terms, and include the mount, audio, cable work, delivery, and installation in your budget. A percentage-off badge alone cannot tell you whether the purchase suits your home.

Make the model number your comparison key

A product family name can cover different model years, sizes, and specifications. Record the full model number, condition, seller, included accessories, and warranty information. When comparing two offers, confirm that you are comparing the same equipment rather than two televisions with similar names.

Read membership, financing, trade-in, and bundle conditions separately. An advertised price may depend on a requirement that does not suit your purchase. The useful number is the amount you can actually pay under the terms you will use.

Compare the complete installed cost

Write a simple budget before browsing. Include the TV, mount, optional soundbar, delivery or handling, cable management, and installation. Leave room for wall conditions that may need an assessment. A lower television price can still lead to a more expensive complete project.

Avoid treating bundled installation descriptions as interchangeable. Check exactly what the seller includes: mounting surface, screen size, bracket supply, cable concealment, power work, and audio setup can all change the scope. Obtain written details for the work you need.

Read the return and delivery details

Confirm the return window, any fees, and how a large-screen return would be handled. Check what to do if the delivery packaging or screen appears damaged. Keep the receipt, order details, and relevant retailer instructions. Inspect according to the seller’s guidance and report a problem promptly.

Retailer prices and inventory can change quickly and may vary by ZIP code or membership. Our Deal Desk links to retailer offer pages. At launch we are not publishing price-specific discounts that we cannot independently confirm as current.

Save a shortlist, then verify it

Pick a small number of suitable models using the room, dimensions, connections, and total budget. Check current offers at the retailer and confirm the terms at checkout. This makes a sale an opportunity to execute your plan rather than a reason to abandon it.

  • Exact model, size, and condition match.
  • Seller, availability, and return terms are clear.
  • Required accessories and installation are included in the budget.
  • Room fit and connection needs have been checked.
  • Any price quoted is current for your location and purchase terms.
