Setup

A clean TV wall starts before the cords disappear.

Compare a surface cord cover with a planned in-wall solution and ask the right questions before installation.

The short answerPlan the power supply and signal cables separately. The right approach depends on the wall, equipment, access, and applicable requirements; a cosmetic cord cover and an in-wall power system do different jobs.

Decide what needs to be hidden

Make a short inventory: television power, HDMI, network cable, soundbar power, game console connections, and any separate television connection box. Identify where each cable begins and ends. This catches a common planning gap: hiding the cable beside the television while leaving the rest of the system without a sensible home.

Choose the appearance you want

A surface raceway can keep cables orderly without opening a wall. Its appearance, capacity, and suitability depend on the product and the installation. An in-wall route can give a different finish, but it requires a wall and cable plan that suit the equipment. Neither option is automatically right for every room.

Legrand’s TV connection products illustrate the distinction: some systems combine a recessed box with cable access, while dedicated power-management kits include components intended for an in-wall power route. Follow the exact kit’s instructions and have a qualified professional confirm suitability. A brush plate alone is not a complete power solution.

Ask about the wall before asking about the price

Tile, masonry, insulation, fire blocking, access restrictions, and concealed services can change the scope. The installer needs to assess the actual construction and the proposed route. Electrical additions or changes may need a licensed electrician and local approval. Ask who will perform that part of the work and what the quote includes.

  • Share photos of the wall, the existing outlets, and the equipment cabinet.
  • Separate power planning from low-voltage signal-cable routing.
  • Confirm the equipment and cables are suitable for their intended location.
  • Allow service access and reasonable space for cable connections.
  • Ask whether wall repair or painting is included or separate.

Leave the setup easy to live with

The cleanest wall is not always the most serviceable one. Keep connection equipment accessible and label cables where useful. After installation, test the television, soundbar, and source devices before the furniture goes back. A tidy appearance and a maintainable setup should be part of the same plan.
